Hossu told journalists that, during talks held Thursday at the Finance Ministry's headquarters, Justice Ministry representatives "cautioned the Government" that the new unitary salary law must be based on the level of salaries in December 2009, "otherwise its content goes against the Constitution".

He said talks on the law consider various scenarios based on another salary chart meant "to solve the ratio problem between the minimum and the maximum salary in the public sector, as well as the hierarchy of positions".

Hossu also said the new law will be based on a "totally different" salary chart, adding Government officials expect unionists' propositions regarding changes to the 1 to 15 ratio between the minimum and the maximum salary.

According to Hossu, the draft unitary salary law could be approved two weeks before adopting the state budget.
