Berceanu went on to explain that, over the last 20 years, Romanian Governments stated the need for investments into infrastructure, without allocating any funds. According to the minister, a solution to raise money for the construction of highways would be cutting the salaries of public officials in management positions, who earn upwards of 20,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.2930).
Berceanu said two weeks ago that the Transports Ministry wants to obtain a budget of at least RON19 billion next year, compared to RON11 billion in 2009.
