Social Democrats Say Parliament Cannot Be Involved In Just Min Appointment

Diaconescu said that Parliament’s involvement in the appointment of Nicolai as justice minister would infringe the constitutional law.

Diaconescu said that the misunderstandings between the president and the Prime Minister regarding Nicolai’s appointment does not represent a constitutional, moral or political argument for Parliament to become involved in the matter.

The official said that Romania’s image abroad and  the political class’s credibility within the country is currently suffering because of the Nicolai scandal.

President Basescu and Prime Minister Tariceanu met on Saturday afternoon, but the content of their discussion was not made public.
