Study Reveals Fewer Cars Engaged In Traffic In Romania's Capital City Bucharest

The average number of cars engaged in road traffic in Romania’s capital city of Bucharest dropped in the last six years, according to a study conducted by Romania’s Ministry of Transports, although, based on official data, the number of car registrations hiked significantly and traffic is more and more crowded each day.

Study Reveals Fewer Cars Engaged In Traffic In Romania's Capital City Bucharest

Thus, if 89,680 cars were engaged in road traffic per day in June 2001, in April 2007, the daily average dropped to 86,928 cars, according to the study.
 
The study stresses the impact of traffic on ozone quality and it presents, among other things, the daily average of cars engaged in traffic in several months during 2000-2005 and 2007. Thus, the number of cars engaged in traffic reached 85,070 In May 2000, 89,680 in June 2001, 83,610 in April 2002 and 88,390 in May 2005.
 
In August and September, traffic became more crowded from 79,040 cars in August 2000 up to 86,010 in September 2001, 78,100 cars in August 2003, 88,270 in September 2006 and 86,356 cars in August 2007, as indicates the study.
 
Simona Stanga, working for the Department for European, presented the results of the study to the media on Monday on the sidelines of a seminar on urban transport issues.
 
The organizers of the event presented the study as belonging to the Ministry of Transports.
