TI-Ro Head Victor Alistar Vows To Sue Integrity Agency For Slander

Alistar said he is not at all against any investigations whatsoever, stressing, however, he wants all legal proceedings to be observed.

On June 18, ANI requested the Prosecution office within the Bucharest District 1 Court to launch a probe into Alistar and his wife Lavinia Nicoleta Ciuta, for alleged forgery in their wealth statements.

Furthermore, ANI also requested that Geta Lepadatu and Ioana Tanase, designated to implement the legal provisions on wealth statements within the Romanian Culture Ministry, be probed for alleged intellectual forgery too.

ANI took these measures after it received a letter, under Law 144/2007, based on subsequent amendments, from the National Agency of Public Servants, which revealed breaches of the legal provisions with respect to filling in and submitting wealth statements, by several people who failed to submit their wealth and interest statements within the legal deadline of 15 days upon terminating activities within the institution.

Subsequent checkups revealed that Alistar breached the legal provisions on the legal status of wealth and interest statements, and, according to article 52 of Law no. 144/2007, "failure to submit wealth and interest statements within the legal deadline is seen as contravention which is punished with fines and the start ex-officio of control proceedings".

Alistar worked as expert (public servant) within the National Agency of Public Servants during October 12, 2001 – March 1, 2009, and, according to provisions of article 39, section 1), pct. 29 of Law no. 144/2007, is obliged to submit wealth and interest statements.

Under these circumstances, Alistar was punished for breach of provisions of article 42, section 3) of Law no. 144/2007, and also informed on June 9, with respect to the start of checkups in this respect, in accordance with provisions of article 52 of the aforementioned law.

After verifying a single wealth and interest statement submitted by Alistar on June 3, as well as the documents requested to clear out related aspects, in accordance with provisions of article 5 of Law no. 144/2007, the outcome revealed the data included in his wealth statement and those include in his wife’s wealth statement of June 11 do not match at all, bringing out a series of irregularities.
