Bucharest district 4 mayor Cristian Popescu Piedone on Saturday sacked the heads of the district’s Community Police Department, following a sudden checkup at the police precincts, which revealed over police cars had not been used for over three months.

Piedone sacked Thursday only the head of the district's Community Police Department, Danut Alexandru, citing deficiencies in budget management and the relation with his employees.

According to the mayoralty’s press office, Piedone ordered the mayoralty’s control body to start an investigation and see whether fake logbooks were used for the cars kept in the garage, which translates into illegal use of state funds.
