Number Of Foreign Tourists To Register Slight Increase In ’08 Compared To ‘07

FPTR estimated that in 2008, the tendencies of 2007 would be maintained. Thus, many Romanians will choose to spend their holidays abroad while foreign tourists will spend theirs in Romania. However, the increase rhythm will be more moderate than in 2007.

The employers’ association presented a series of data regarding tourism in 2007.

Thus, 7.667 million foreign tourists, that is 27% more compared to the same period a year ago, visited Romania in 2007.

Romanians who preferred to spend their holidays abroad increased from 8.905 million in 2006 to 10.95 million this year, meaning  a 23% hike.

Bathing places received this year with 6% more tourists than in 2006, while the seashore registered a 16% increase and mountain areas a 13% increase in the number of tourists.
