The prosecutor general required Parliament approval for the opening of criminal investigations on Monica Iacob Ridzi, former member of government and lawmaker with the Chamber of Deputies.

Ridzi stepped down as youth and sports minister on July 14, following corruption allegations. Ridzi said she wanted to protect the reputation of the government and of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL).

Ridzi is accused of misappropriation of state funds in connection to her organizing the festivities on the “Youth Day” on May 2.
