Trade Register: 6,250 Romanian Cos Entered Insolvency In Q1

In the first quarter of 2009, 4.925 firms entered insolvency nationwide.

Out of the total number of insolvent companies in the January-March interval of 2010, 40% are active in commerce and retail, 16% in manufacturing, and 15% in constructions.

In March alone, 2,152 companies entered insolvency, compared with 2,022 in February, ONRC said Wednesday.

In 2009, 18,241 companies entered insolvency, up 25% on the year.

Almost 20,000 companies suspended their operations during the first quarter, 4.5-times more than in the same period of 2009.

About one million companies are registered in Romania.
