"We’re not negotiating anything until we have final, confirmed election results. Our primary option is the Liberal Party, but that’s not our only option. We’ll start discussions when we have final official results,” Boc said.

"After we see mandates, we can talk about alternative solutions and people,” he said.

Asked how democrat liberals are able to negotiate with liberals who are intent on keeping the prime minister position for Calin Tariceanu, Boc said that “any party starts negotiations with maximal demands”.

"Is it certain that they even have a candidate that has gained a deputy seat? Are they sure he was elected? Is Mister Calin Popescu Tariceanu a deputy?” Boc asked rhetorically.

He also said it is quite unlikely for any negotiations to take place Thursday. On the other hand, democrat liberal sources told MEDIAFAX Tuesday that a meeting with liberals will “surely take place Tuesday”.

Final results on the vote released Tuesday showed social democrats in the lead with 33.09% for the Chamber of Deputies and 34.16% for Senate, followed by democrat liberals with 32.36% and 33.57, liberals with 18.57% and 18.74 and the Hungarian minority party with 6.17% and 6.39%. The Central Election Office called a meeting to debate about 20 appeals and vote recount requests and is still expecting to receive the minutes from the counties of Bacau, Botosani, Mures and Olt, for which results were communicated over the phone.

As no party gained an outright majority, the major contenders will meet to negotiate in view of forming a majority in Parliament and making up the future Government.
