Romanian Actor Gheorghe Dinica In Critical Condition After Bile Duct Surgery

Romanian actor Gheorghe Dinica, 75, who underwent bile duct laparoscopic surgery Monday evening, is in critical condition and is receiving complex medical treatment and care, the Bucharest Floreasca Emergency Hospital said in a press release Tuesday.

Romanian Actor Gheorghe Dinica In Critical Condition After Bile Duct Surgery

Dinica's condition after the surgery is "critical and requires constant intensive care to bring vital organs to normal parameters," the press release also read.

Dinica was admitted to the Floreasca hospital on October 22 and has so far received medical care and treatment for multiple infections, which affected most vital organs.

Dinica was first diagnosed with severe lung and kidney infection, which subsequently led to respiratory problems and complications.

Dinica, one of Romania's most famous and highly acclaimed actors, made his debut as an actor with the film "The Stranger" in 1963 and has starred in over 60 films since then, among which, "The Afternoon of a Torturer," "Filantropica," "Regina" (TV Series), "Gypsy Heart" (TV Series). Dinica also performed for some of the most famous Romanian theaters and acted in "Tache, Ianke and Cadar," "The Name of the Rose," "Waiting for Godot", and numerous other plays.

Dinica also released several folk music albums alongside late actor Stefan Iordache and folk singer Nelu Ploiesteanu.

Since 2002, Dinica has been honorary member of the society of I.L.Caragiale National Theater. Dinica, also an honorary citizen of the city of Bucharest, was awarded the "Faithful Service" Order in the rank of Grand Officer.
