The president referred to articles 2 and 26 from the electoral reform law that he considers as infringing the Constitution.

Basescu said article 26 refers to the introduction of additional electoral lists, on indirect voting, which in his opinion is against the Constitutional law.

The president criticized article 2 from the uninominal Law that allows for the organization of early elections if administrative-territorial reorganizations take place. Basescu considers the article also infringes the constitutional law.

The president said he is sure that the Pro Democratia Association noticed that the two articles infringe the Constitution.

“I suspect that the Pro Democratia Association and Government worked hand in hand in infringing the electoral reform law. If the Constitutional Court will rule in favor of the two articles, then I will publicly apologize to both institutions. However, if I am right, both the Association and the Prime Minister will be held responsible,” the president concluded.
