The weapons warehouse in Ciorogarla, near Romania’s capital city Bucharest, was unlocked Wednesday morning and hadn’t been checked for two weeks, people close to the investigation said told MEDIAFAX.

Six people were heard on Thursday and dozens of others will be taking in for hearings in the upcoming period, the sources said.
 
Romanian defense minister Mihai Stanisoara confirmed Thursday evening on Realitatea TV that weapons were missing from the warehouse. He said that no ammunition was stolen, because it wasn’t stored in the same place as the weapons.
 
"No ammunition was stolen. A number of weapons are missing,” Stanisoara said, declining to state the number, saying it would interfere with the inbvestigation.
 
The minister said security rules were violated and announced the start of an interior administrative inquiry, adding drastic measures will be taken after the investigation.
 
Romanian military prosecutors started criminal investigations "in rem" regarding stolen weapons from the military warehouse in Ciorogarla.
