Feeble presence to poll at the double ballot

Yesterday, the around 18 million Romanians with voting right were called to poll for the first time in order to vote their representatives in the European Parliament and for the second time this year at a referendum. The most scrupulous voters for both ballots were in Moldova and in the Szeklers’ County, the most apathetic in Bucharest.

As expected, the double poll of yesterday was marked by a profound absenteeism, as the political analysts and the sociologists had estimated already in the electoral campaign. Both around the country, where apart from the official ballot sections some ad-hoc ones were set up, in prisons, hospitals or military units, and abroad where the Romanian Diaspora is well represented, the Romanians were not interested to express their political options.
