Most Romanians Would Seek Doctors, Avoid Vaccine, In Case Of AH1N1 Virus Infection

A poll by the company Future Marketing reveals that 84% of Romanians interviewed would go to a doctor at the first symptoms of flu and only 2% of them seek information about the flu from medical or specialized sources, while most (over 70%) use television and the internet as primary sources of information.

"Paradoxically, even though they fear the consequences of the new flu, a majority of Romanians, 57.2%, do not want to get vaccinated against the new flu. The arguments used by those who refuse to get vaccines include: «I don't trust them», «I don't need them», «I don't feel this flu is a real threat», «the vaccine is unsafe», «the vaccine is insufficiently tested»," according to Future Marketing.

Among those who said they would get vaccines, 53.1% would firstly use the Romanian vaccine, saying they have more faith in Romanian products and Romanian doctors, while those who would choose the imported vaccine (46%) said the foreign doses are of superior quality compared to the Romanian product.

The poll was unfolded between October and November and included 1,690 respondents aged between 18 and 50. The poll has an error margin of 2.5 %.

The company Future Marketing was founded in 2004 and provides specialized marketing research and consultancy services on the Eastern European market.
